“The more effort you put in to your job search, the more opportunities you shall receive” was a key phrase that Shirley Perle, Marketing Executive of Norwest Recruitment shared with the students of Certificate III in Business Administration at Nirimba Tafe.
The presentation made to the students was aimed at helping them physically and mentally prepare for the beginning of their job search.
During the presentation, Shirley gave advice on resume preparation, personal presentation, interview tips and suggestions on how to deal with a Recruitment Agency.
Key points highlighted:
- Tailor your resume to each position you are applying for; keep your resume short and include bullet points
- When securing an interview, research the company you are meeting with
- During the Interview;
- Dress appropriately; have your hair well groomed, preferably pulled back, not too much makeup, no heavy perfume or aftershaves
- Make sure you appear confident and professional
- Have a firm handshake, good eye contact and a friendly smile
- Listen carefully and prepare a list of questions you can ask at the end of the interview
- Make sure you know your strengths, weaknesses and practice various scenario questions
- Thank them for their time
